The College of Engineering has four departments, namely Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. All the departments offer the Bachelor of Science degree. The College offers the following degrees at the graduate level: Master of Science in Engineering, with options in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering; Master of Science in Engineering Management, a joint program between the Colleges of Engineering and Business Adminstration; Master of Science in Environmental Engineering; and Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Sciences, a joint program between the Colleges of Engineering and Sciences.
Faculty
The faculty of the College of Engineering is dedicated to the education of the students. Virtually all courses are taught by full-time faculty or practicing engineers. The result of this dedication can be seen in practical programs which provide both a strong theoretical base and a strong design component that runs throughout the curricula.
Funding
The University of New Orleans College of Engineering receives funding from federal, state, and private sources. With approximately $10,000,000 of external research support, our faculty are involved with research projects involving undergraduate and graduate students along with professional research staff. The vast majority of our master's and doctoral level graduate students are supported by external research funding. Much of our funded research is performed through our research centers.
Industry Support
The College is assisted by an Industry Advisory Council consisting of industry executives who are either engineers or have an interest in the engineering profession. The Council undertakes activities designed to help the College of Engineering achieve the level of excellence expected of a major metropolitan institution of higher learning. This unique collaboration between faculty and industry is united under the common goal to strengthen the College of Engineering.
